It’s been a while since my last post. It’s not that life has been boring by any means, but I haven’t had any news that I wanted to share. I’ve faced a few curveballs in early spring that knocked me down for a bit, but am back on my feet. And wheels. Now that the temperatures are rising, I’ve been taking time for myself outdoors as well as inside, and have been walking and riding the trails nearby.
To be honest, I almost scrapped the blog. I’ve become even more aware that there’s a huge potential for making a “self” out of blogging; a story line that one can buy into and build upon. Sort of like certain social media venues. I’m still debating whether or not to continue, or in what way. But for now, perhaps I’ll just try to brighten your day with a little local color.
Enjoy the photos, and feel free to share your feelings about keeping a blog.
Be well and peaceful.

In 2009 I was working full time in medicine, and living a life that was alienated from what I truly valued. While volunteering with a local hospice, I began to wonder: "What would I do differently if I had six months to live?". This began the impetus to change direction.
While it has been a case of two steps forward, one step back in many ways, there has still been slow movement in the direction of a more authentic life.
Since the pivotal decision to change direction, I have been a Buddhist nun, returned to lay life, changed Buddhist schools, returned to medicine part time, and then full time, quit again, traveled extensively, trained in yoga, spent time in several Buddhist monasteries, and am in the process of how to live according with Buddhist and yogic practice and values, and how to streamline this life into something worthwhile.
In the Theravadan Buddhist practice, one of the daily reflections is "Has my practice born fruit with freedom or insight, so that at the end of my life, I need not feel ashamed when questioned by my spiritual companions?". That is my practice. My goal in this blog is to share the journey along the way.

I enjoy your posts and would hate to see u quit your blog. U lead such a quiet, relaxing life and the rest of us wish we could do the same. But duty calls and we have to live vicariously through u.
